Surf forecast, what's on, what to skip. In your inbox before 8am every Monday.
Monday's the only day with any real size this week. After that, the swell drops and stays small through Sunday. It's July, so no wetsuit data in the system, but the Atlantic is warm enough for a shortie or boardshorts by now.
Beginners: La Sud is your week. Monday's too big and messy with a gusty onshore, but Tuesday through Thursday gives you knee-to-thigh waves and light winds. Low energy, forgiving, good for working on basics. High tide at La Sud on Tuesday is at 05:13 and 17:32 — aim for the two hours either side of low tide at 11:12 when the banks tend to shape up better.
Intermediate: Monday at La Centrale could be worth a look early — 3m sets with gusts to 26 knots by mid-morning, so get in before the wind builds. Tuesday drops to 2m with barely any wind, which is more manageable, but the period is short at 8 seconds so expect crumbly, fast-closing waves. Wednesday onwards is too small to bother.
Experienced: Monday is the only session worth targeting all week. La Gravière will be seeing 3–4m sets on a WNW swell with a strong westerly onshore. It's not clean, but it's the only power in the water. Tuesday and beyond, the swell fades to knee-to-thigh with no period data available for Thursday through Sunday — conditions look flat and uninspiring.
Monday 13 July · High tide 04:19 and 16:40 · Wind: strong westerly onshore, gusting hard by mid-morning · Water temp: no data this week
The email lands before 8am every Monday. One issue, then quiet until next week.
Warm and dry through Wednesday, then a damp patch Thursday and Friday before it clears again for the weekend. Sunday's looking like the pick of the week at 31°C with barely any wind. Sunscreen's non-negotiable all week, and a light layer for evenings is worth throwing in the bag.
Version data is missing for all films this week, so VO/VF status isn't confirmed. Check the venue links before heading out.
A surf film, so worth your time if you're here for the waves. Version unknown: call ahead if subtitles matter to you.
Horror based on the internet-born liminal-space mythology. Probably VF; probably not worth it if your French isn't solid.
Minions doing Minions things, now with monsters. Kids' film, almost certainly VF.

Apartment in renovated ocean-front villa Beach-front · sleeps 5 · €2,205 / week · Locations Vacances Hossegor
Fully renovated, direct beach access, and you're looking at the ocean from the window. That's the whole pitch. Peak July, it'll be loud and busy outside, but you're not here for quiet.
Apartment in village villa, under the pines Residential · sleeps 5 · €1,050 / week · Locations Vacances Hossegor
First floor of a villa in a calm, residential quarter. Pine trees, no beach noise, half the price of the ocean-front option. You'll need a bike or a car to get to the water, but evenings here will actually feel like a holiday.
This week: Central Park for dinner. Order the burger or the fish of the day, both reliable. Casual and family-friendly, it's the kind of place where no one's going to rush you. Saturday nights the service slows right down, so either go early or don't be in a hurry. Around €20–30 a head.
