surf & conditions

Tuesday's the pick of the week. The rest of the seven days is a mix of onshore wind and modest swell, but Tuesday brings cross-shore conditions and waist-to-shoulder sets with a bit more punch than the days around it. Water temp data isn't available this week, but it's late July so you won't need more than a shorty or a light 2mm spring suit.

Beginners (La Sud): Monday through Wednesday works fine at La Sud. Waist-to-chest sets, nothing scary, and the onshore on Monday eases off by Tuesday. Thursday onwards drops to thigh-to-waist, which is actually ideal if you're just finding your feet. Stick here all week.

Intermediate (La Centrale): Tuesday is your day. Cross-shore from the NNE, 3m sets with a 10-second period on Wednesday if you want a bit more shape. Monday and the back half of the week are onshore and messy. Not worth it.

Experienced (La Gravière / Les Estagnots): Honestly, it's not a great week. Monday and Tuesday have size (up to 4m max) but the wind's onshore or cross-shore most days. Wednesday has a 10-second period from the NW which could organise things a bit at Les Estagnots, but don't expect clean faces. Worth a look at dawn before the wind builds.

Standout day: Tuesday 28 July · High tides 04:50 and 17:05 · Best sessions in the two hours either side of each high · Light cross-shore NNE wind · Tuesday swell period data incomplete; Wednesday's 10s period from NW is the cleaner read

weather

Monday's drizzly, but Tuesday hits 37°C and clear, so that's the day to be on the beach early before the heat gets silly. The rest of the week settles into warm and partly cloudy, with a brief soft patch Thursday before it builds again into the weekend. Sun cream is non-negotiable all week; UV is high throughout.

This week: Le Surfing for lunch. Order the tuna tataki, eat it with sand between your toes. It's a post-surf spot in the best possible sense, right on the beach, no pretension. Open March to October only, so make the most of it while you're here. Around €25–40 a head.
