Issue 02 · Week of 1-7 June 2026

This week in Hossegor.

Surf forecast, what's on, what to skip. In your inbox before 8am every Monday.

surf & conditions

Friday's the one this week. A big SE offshore wind cleans things up just as the swell peaks, with sets running 2.4–3.7m. The rest of the week is onshore and messy, so patience is the play. No water temp data this week; a 3/2 should be fine for June, but bring a 4/3 if you run cold.

Beginners (La Sud): Monday offers the most manageable window of the early week, with chest-to-head sets and very light wind. It'll be bumpy but not blown out. Tuesday through Thursday the onshore picks up and La Sud gets choppy. Sit those out.

Intermediate (La Centrale): Thursday could be worth a look if you're comfortable in messy SW onshore conditions and up to 2m sets. It's not clean, but there's size. Friday is a step up in both power and quality, and La Centrale will be firing, though it'll be busy.

Experienced (La Gravière / Les Estagnots): Friday morning is the session. Offshore SE breeze, sets pushing double overhead, high tide at 08:22 so aim for the two hours either side of low at 14:37 for the sandbank to show. Saturday and Sunday data is incomplete, so check again mid-week before making plans.

Friday 5 June: high tide 08:22 and 20:40 · low tide 02:23 and 14:37 · light SE offshore · 2.4m average, 3.7m max

weather

Monday's the best of the week: warm, light wind, get outside. Tuesday through Friday turns grey and drizzly, with a gusty Tuesday to watch out for. It clears again by the weekend, so if you're arriving Friday, pack for both.

cinema: le rex

All films this week appear to be VF only — no version originale or VOSTFR screenings confirmed. Skip unless your French is comfortable.

The showtimes data covers screenings from Saturday 30 May, which falls outside this week's issue window (1–7 June). The listings below are what the scraper returned; check the venue links for updated scheduling.

Full week schedule at Le Rex.

live music: le tube + area

Nothing confirmed at Le Tube for the week of 1–7 June. The season programme has some good names coming — Vianney, Mylène Farmer, The Cure, Patrick Bruel, Youssou Ndour, Gaël Faye, Feu! Chatterton — but dates aren't locked in yet. Worth checking the Le Tube programme directly before you make plans.

surf culture & special events

Nothing lands in the next seven days. The Louis Lopez exhibition at Villa Seren ran through 31 May, so that's done. The next surf-culture event worth your time is the Custom SurfArt workshop with Peïfo on 14 June, where you can repaint or recycle a board with the guy they call "le peintre des surfeurs" — run by Save la Mermaid, bookable via hossegor.fr.

Further out: the Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series returns to Hossegor on 4 July for the Hossegor Classic. Worth knowing about if you're planning a summer trip.

Les Halles Gourmandes, Friday 5 Jun, from 18h. Street food evening, runs every Friday through summer. Good option if you don't want a sit-down dinner.

where to stay

Top-floor apartment, town centre Town centre · sleeps 6 · €2,100 / week · Locations Vacances Hossegor

Third floor of a converted hotel, right in the middle of town. The 50m² terrace looks out over the lake and canal, which is the whole point. Ten minutes on foot to the ocean. You're walking distance from everything, and the lake view at sunset makes up for not being beachside.

Plage Sud apartment Beach · sleeps 4 · €1,400 / week · Locations Vacances Hossegor

First floor in a residence with a pool, right by the South beach. Compact for four, but the location does the work. Expect some noise in peak season. Good option if the priority is rolling out of bed and being in the water.

where to eat this week

This week: Le Surfing for lunch. Order the tuna tataki, eat with your feet practically in the sand. It's the right place after a morning session, no argument. Open March to October only, so worth using while it's running. Around €25–40 a head.
