Intermediate (La Centrale): Skip Wednesday entirely. Head-high-plus sets with onshore NNW wind and a short 7.5s period means it'll be lumpy and hard to read. Friday looks far better: waist-to-shoulder, a light ENE cross-shore, and a 9.2s period giving the waves some shape. High tide is at 06:25 and 18:50, so aim for the late morning window.

Experienced (La Gravière / Les Estagnots): Thursday is worth a look. Shoulder-to-head sets around 1.5–1.9m, a decent 9.7s period, and only a light NE cross-shore. Not offshore, but manageable. Sunday (day 7, so treat it as a best-guess) shows waist-to-shoulder with clean ESE offshore and a 9.2s period. If it holds, it'll be the best session of the week.

First floor of a villa in a quiet residential pocket, trees all around. You're in the village proper, so shops and restaurants are walkable, but it's genuinely calm at night. Good option if you want to be central without being on top of the action.

La Gravière apartment Ocean-side · sleeps 4 · €1,000 / week · Locations Vacances Hossegor

Ground floor of a traditional Basco-Landais villa, close enough to La Gravière that you'll hear the swell if it's pumping. The trade-off: proximity to the beach means proximity to the crowd in peak season, though early October it'll be quieter. Named after the break for a reason.

where to eat this week

This week: Central Park for dinner. Order the burger or the fish of the day, both reliable. Casual and family-friendly, it's the kind of place you don't need to dress up for. Around €20–30 a head, and worth noting that service slows down on Saturday nights, so either go early or don't be in a rush.
